KING'S Lynn's management have given a massive thumbs-up to their first week of Elite League level action - after two highly entertaining challenge meetings against Birmingham. The Stars reported their record opening-night crowd for their home leg onWednesday, and defeated the Brummies on aggregate with the Perry Barr clubgaining a narrow victory on their own circuit.Lynn co-promoter Jonathan Chapman said: "It has been a hard winter but we have stayed committed and focused as we have always believed that we were destined to return to the Elite League. But with all the controversy that has built up with the new silencers in the past few weeks I was worried that this issue would end up being our nemesis - thankfully, Wednesday nigh tproved that it wouldn't be."Personally I think that we had underestimated the skill level of the riders who handled them brilliantly and passed on the inside, outside and just about every single part of the track. It was great stuff and very exciting to watch!"

BELLE Vue have made changes to their squad rider positions after are-assessment of Tomas Piszcz's starting average.Piszcz comes into the Aces team on a 3.49 figure, with the club now naming Newcastle's Mark Lemon as a doubling-up rider in place of Jordan Frampton, whilst Sheffield's Hugh Skidmore takes over as No.8.Manager Jim Lynch said: "We wanted to stay loyal to the team we've already put on the track, so we strengthened the doubling up role. It means we'll be in a much better position when riders from the main team are missing."We explained the situation to Jordan before we made the decision and his attitude was exemplary. We were superbly impressed with him on press and practice day and I've made it clear to him that he will certainly be in our thoughts for the future."

IPSWICH boss Pete Simmons declared himself satisfied with the Witches' victory over Berwick in the first Premier League match of the season. The Foxhall side triumphed 53-42 with all seven home riders winning at least one race, although they suffered a bizarre setback in Heat 7 when the Bandits recorded an 8-0 race result as neither Ipswich rider finished.Simmons said: "I am reasonably happy with how things went. The 8-0 against us in Heat 7 was not ideal but these things happen."We still have a few engine gremlins to sort out in the team but it is early days and it was a good result overall."

Of course we are delighted that both Danny and Lewishave joined Mildenhall but at the same time it is a blow to us as management, and also the fans and sponsors at West Row, to be losing Oliver.
