JASON Doyle's career-best top flight performance helped Poole to an away win at newcomers Birmingham in their first Elite League match of the season.Doyle scored 12 (paid 13) from five rides in the Pirates' 48-42 win, and shared in the match-clinching 5-1 with star reserve Dennis Andersson in Heat 14.Doyle said: "I'm very happy tonight to help the team to win. It seems crazy that a month ago I didn't have a team place in British speedway and bought my own air ticket back to the UK hoping I could land a ride in 2011."Within four weeks I'm back at Poole and have fixed myself up a place at Rye House in the Premier League too. I'm over the moon."

BELLE Vue collected their first Elite League points of the campaign with a 52-42 win over King's Lynn in front of a bumper crowd for the season-opener at Kirkmanshulme Lane.Danish youngster Patrick Hougaard scored a 12-point maximum from four rides, and his total was matched by Rory Schlein from five outings.Aces' boss Jim Lynch said: "There were some doubts about certain riders but not any more because everybody contributed."Tomasz (Piszcz) has still got a bit to do and Craig (Cook) was upset with himself which shows that he cares. Charlie Gjedde was awesome. He did everything tonight, it was vintage Gjedde which we haven't seen for a few years, but the night has to go to Patrick."

LAKESIDE asset Jonas Davidsson is on stand-by to provide cover for Piotr Swiderski should the Pole's start permission problems continue this week.Davidsson has elected to sit out British racing this year, but with the Swedish season not commencing until late April he will be available for the Hammers' opening fixtures if the ongoing row over Polish riders and the new silencers is not resolved in time.Lakeside boss Jon Cook said: "JD's heart is still very much with Lakeside and he is happy to come over and help out if needed. I am grateful to him and I am sure that Jonas will be an excellent short term solution."That said, he has built his season around other commitments and we have built ours around having Piotr in our team and that is still clearly our intention once this stupid situation gets sorted out."
