POLISH rider Tomasz Piszcz has quit Belle Vue following the Aces' home defeat against table-topping Eastbourne.Piszcz resigned from the club after failing to score in the 44-45 loss to the flying Eagles, who are now four points clear at the top of the table with Lewis Bridger starring at reserve.Piszcz has struggled with mechanical setbacks since the start of the season and decided to end his Aces career after only six league matches in order to give himself time to try to sort out his problems.Aces' team manager Jim Lynch said: "Tomasz has resigned because of his failure to score against Eastbourne and the fact that his recent poor scores have been due to the fact he has had mechanical problems. He felt it was in everybody's interest that he came out of the team."

POOLE hope to have World Under-21 Champion Darcy Ward back in their team for the home Elite League clash with Belle Vue on Wednesday.Ward has been sidelined for the opening month of the season after suffering a broken wrist in a motocross accident - although the Pirates have still won both of their opening league fixtures away from home.Manager Neil Middleditch said: "Darcy has left no stone unturned in his quest to get back riding. He is having round the clock physio and treatment and undertaken some practice at Rye House and Newport in the past 48 hours."We will have to assess his full fitness and the signs are promising, but nice as it would be to have a full seven-man team back on track it is important that he is 100 per cent happy with everything before he comes back."
