Daytona 500 winner secures sponsorship for All-Star race

American auto racing team Woods Brothers Racing has announced that 2011 Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne has secured sponsorship enabling him to compete in two upcoming races, including the Sprint All-Star event.

Affinity Group brands Camping World and Good Sam Club will sponsor Bayne's No. 21 Ford for two races in the Sprint Cup series, the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeeway on 17th April and the Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on 21st May.

Though financial details of the agreement were not released, a primary placement on a Sprint Cup car is typically worth roughly US$500,000 per race.

20-year-old Bayne, who races in the Nascar Nationwide Series with Roush Fenway Racing and is therefore not eligible for Sprint Cup points, is the youngest ever driver to win the Daytona 500. His surprise win on 20th February granted him eligibility to compete in the Sprint All-Star Race but Wood Brothers Racing's lack of sponsorship means he will only compete in the 2011 Sprint Cup Series on a limited schedule.

Additionally it has been announced that non-profit relief organisation Feed The Children will serve as the title sponsor for the Nascar Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway on Friday 8th July.

"It's an honor to partner with the Kentucky Speedway and the Nationwide Series for this outstanding race. This association will help blaze a new trail of awareness among race fans everywhere to help feed hungry children and families across America," said Feed The Children chief operating officer, Travis Arnold.

Typically the title sponsorship of a Nascar Nationwide Series race is worth US$250,000.
