Atech CRS GP continues GP3 test in Spain

Atech CRS GP has completed the first of three days testing at the Catalunya circuit in Spain, as it prepares for the opening rounds of the GP3 series, which kick off in Turkey next month. The three-car team took to the track in warm sunny conditions after the wet and windy test at Silverstone last time out.

In both sessions, it was Marlon Stockinger who led the trio, the Swiss-Filipino having a promising morning session that would have netted a top four position but for a red flag. For Nick Yelloly the day provided a last opportunity to learn the GP3 car after just two seasons in racing. Swiss Zoel Amberg suffered electrical problems during the opening day but remains confident ahead of the second day.

Marlon Stockinger: “Once again the team did a great job and I think I could have been P3 or P4 had it not been for a red flag situation. But we still have two days ahead of us and it’s important to focus on getting it right so that we end the test programme on a high. The morning session particularly was very promising so I’m confident we can continue to work on that for the next two days.”

Nick Yelloly: “It wasn’t the best start to the test as we spent much of the day getting to grips with the GP3 car after the Formula Renault, however this year’s championship is so very competitive, with the top 25 separated by just a second, so it’s going to be very close. I think we’ve almost cracked it, it’s very close, and I’ll be aiming for a better result tomorrow. ”

The team returns to track activity for the second of three days today.
