James Dixon secured Total Control Racing's second victory of 2011 at Donington Park on Sunday, 17th April, during the fourth round of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK to move into second place in the championship standings.Beginning the race on pole position after a great effort in qualifying, the Kent driver made a decent getaway and headed off the challenge of championship leader Paul Rivett into Redgate to assume a lead he held to the chequered flag on lap 14.Soaking up plenty of pressure throughout the race, Dixon didn't put a wheel wrong and his success has moved him to within 22 points of Rivett in the runner-up spot in the driver standings. In addition to his outright victory, the TCR man secured his second Graduate Cup class win of the weekend.Team-mate Tom Grice had an altogether more difficult race and unfortunately wasn't able to capitalise on his best qualifying run of the year, the car racing rookie having posted the third fastest time during Saturday's session.Pushed back to sixth place early on, the Essex racer received contact at the sweeping Craner Curves on lap three to cause further problems. Gathering himself up in eighth place, Grice was then tagged into a spin at Redgate at the beginning of lap nine before more contact on lap 10 led to an enforced retirement. Having delivered superb pace all weekend, the outcome was bitterly disappointing.Nicolas Hamilton produced the most competitive drive of his four-race old career with an excellent run to 14th place overall, ahead of TCR team-mate Mark Proctor and just half a second shy of the more experienced Matthew Munson. Having out-qualified three other racers, he carried his great performance through into the race and lapped just 0.9 seconds shy of winner Dixon's quickest effort. The Hertfordshire teenager continues to improve with every outing.Proctor's early progress was unfortunately hampered by a spin for Craig Currie at Craner Curves, the former BTCC racer having to get out of the way to avoid an accident. In the process he lost a lot of time but brought his Clio home in 15th position."We're delighted to have won again in Clios", said TCR principal Lee Brookes, "James did a great job at the start and handled the pressure really well. Two wins from the first two weekends of the season is a fantastic start. "Tom was very unlucky to receive all of the contact he did, it really was a shame as his pace in testing and qualifying was superb. Nicolas and Mark are both continuing to improve and we're confident they'll keep moving up the order."Breeze and Ritter prove pace in Ginetta GT Supercup...Rounds five and six of the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup proved to be a mixed affair for TCR's Carl Breeze and Joachim Ritter although, as in the Clio Cup, there was no lack of pace from the team as both drivers had the speed to be right at the front.Set to start round five from the front row, Breeze wasn't able to leave the grid as the lights went out and his car crawled to a stand-still. He did manage to get going but after visiting the pits it became apparent he had a throttle sensor issue which eventually ruled him out of the race on lap six.Ritter, meanwhile, started in 18th and last position due to his non-finish on Saturday and he produced one of the drives of his career with an exceptional performance. Scything his way through the order, the Ginetta racer battled through into the top six and produced a best lap just 0.4 seconds shy of the fastest lap of the race.In round six Ritter ran very strongly inside the top six and looked on course for a terrific result once again. After being shuffled back a couple of places on lap seven though, an unfortunate spin at the exit of McLeans on the 12th tour resulted in the eventual finish of 10th position overall.Breeze, meanwhile, produced a replica of Ritter's storm through from the back of the grid in Sunday's first race. Lining up at the back of the grid due to his throttle problems in round five, the Kings Lynn driver absolutely sliced his way through the order and by lap 10 he was into the top four.Moving into third on lap 13, a richly deserved podium was there for the taking but after swapping places with 2009 nemesis Nathan Freke late in the race some contact at McLeans from the former champion resulted in Breeze having to settle for fourth place.Brookes said: "Carl and Joachim both had fantastic pace this weekend, they both deserved better results than they ultimately ended up with but that's the way it goes. Both of their drives from the back of the grid were fantastic and Carl was very unlucky to miss the podium in the last race. I'm sure at Thruxton they'll be just as strong and competitive again."Rounds five and six of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK and the seventh, eighth and ninth rounds of the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup will take place a fortnight from now, Saturday, 30th April, and Sunday, 1st May.Before then TCR will make its championship debut in the 2011 Ginetta Challenge less than a week from now, Saturday, 23rd April, at Oulton Park in Cheshire with a single-car entry for former Clio Cup racer Mike Robinson.E
