Aye Gee Suzuki by HMR Difficult Weekend at the Opening Round

It has been a tough opening round for the Aye Gee Suzuki team at the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit with Josh Wainwright and Adam Lyon. The pairing suffered a number of technical problems throughout the weekend and ended up in the last chance shoot out on Sunday afternoon, thankfully both managed to qualify with Adam in 34th and Josh in 35th on the large Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship grid.

Despite this the pair of youngsters worked extremely hard throughout the weekend to overcome their problems and Adam finished in a stunning 12th position from 34th on the grid and Josh gained 20th place from 35th, a great result despite the issues.

Adam gained a great start and was 25th after the opening lap and knuckled down and lap-by-lap started to work his way through the field setting his fastest lap times in the closing stages of the race. The young Scottish rider dug deep and worked extremely hard to gain 22 positions over the 24-lap race.

Speaking with Adam he said "At the start of this weekend I was really worried on how it was all going to pan out. We had some niggling problems in every session and so when we ended up in the last chance shoot out it made me slightly nervous. However, we managed to get to the grid all be it close to the back and I knew I had my work cut out. I made a good start but making the amount of passes I had to make so many passes it was really tough, in the closing stages I was very tired. I'm really pleased with the result and some points in the bag, which could make a big difference at the end of the season. It was a very hard weekend and I'm just glad I was able to bring it home in one piece and looking forward to moving onto Oulton Park next weekend and continuing to move in the right direction."

21-year-old Josh Wainwright from Kent who finished 10th overall in the National Superstock 600 Championship last year was disappointed with his 20th place finish, saying "I'm just gutted as I worked so hard during the race to get a good result and it just didn't happen. We have had issues all weekend with the suspension set up and a couple of other problems and it just didn't seem to click into place. We tried several different things but I just couldn't get a comfortable set up. I'm really disappointed that I wasn't able to get in the points and hope that we can get a good set up for Oulton Park next weekend."
