POOLE clinched the Elite League Pairs title with Australian duo Chris Holder and Darcy Ward romping to victory at King's Lynn.The Pirates defeated Belle Vue pairing Chris Harris and Rory Schlein in theFinal after getting the better of Wolverhampton in the semi on a night of thrilling racing at the Norfolk Arena.Holder said: "We kept our heads and rode things sensibly when we weren' tmaking the gates but in that last one I was able to get away and I just knew'Darky' wouldn't be far behind."Ward added: "I was on the outside and I knew Rory was going to try and push me out so I just kept it wound on and got the advantage. It's a great feeling."

BIRMINGHAM have been rocked by a ban slapped on Polish star Krzysztof Kasprzak.The Brummies number one has gone back to his home country after his domestic club, Tarnow, told him he was no longer allowed to ride in England.They claim they are unhappy with his form in the Polish League and have emailed Brummies boss Graham Drury saying the rider is now banned from riding in the Elite League for a minimum of two weeks.Drury said: "It's fair to say I've had better weeks in Speedway. I'm stunned by what's happened with KK and we can only hope this ban is removed because he loves riding for Birmingham."

ALEX Davies will return to the Newport team as the Wasps look to kick start their Premier League campaign in back-to-back fixtures against Workington.Davies has been out since fracturing a vertebrae in a crash at Poole at theend of March, but received medical clearance on Tuesday and will now resume his team place with short-term replacement Anders Mellgren making way.Wasps skipper Leigh Lanham said: "'It says a lot for Alex's commitment tothe Newport cause that he undertook a 500-mile round journey last Saturday to practice and judge whether there were any after-effects before seeking a medical."Last time he was out with injury in season 2010 he returned with a lot of appetite for racing and I'm sure it will be the same this time around. We have missed him in the camp and I was pleased to hear his news."

BERWICK have announced details of a unique admission offer as they prepare to host Plymouth on Saturday - for the first time in over 40 years!The Devils open their Premier League campaign this weekend and any adult who can produce the match programme from Plymouth's visit to Berwick in 1969 will be admitted free - along with a further free admission deal fo raccompanied under-16s.Bandits boss Ian Rae said: "I suppose Plymouth are a bit of an unknown quality, as brand-newcomers to the Premier League this term, but we know al labout their two top stars. Both Ben Barker and Jason Bunyan have raced herein the past - very quickly!
