It was another day of bad luck for Muscle Milk Team CytoSport's Mark Bullitt at Miller Motorsports Park, as he placed 23rd in Race 2 of the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix.
Starting from the 14th position in Round 4 of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama, Bullitt had an incredible start, which allowed him to move up to the front of the field by the first turn.
However, after clearing the first few corners without contact, the few cars ahead of him slowed going in to Turn 5 and the German tapped the rear of the Porsche ahead of him, which sent him spinning off course.
After yesterday's race, this was déjà vu for the driver of the #6 Muscle Milk Porsche GT3 cup car, as he once again found himself at the rear of the field. The only difference with Saturday's race was that there was no caution flag, which would have bunched up the field.
Bullitt never gave up and kept pushing hard as he overtook the cars ahead of him, but with a spread out and very competitive field, it was a challenge. The German did manage to go from the back of the 34-car field to cross the finish line in 23rd in his fourth IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge race.
Bullitt's next race with his Muscle Milk team will be at Lime Rock Park during the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix July 8th through 9th.
MUSCLE MILK QUOTES - IMSA GT3 CUP CHALLENGE BY YOKOHAMA DRIVER:
Mark Bullitt, driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche GT3 Challenge Cup car
"The start was really good. We had a good run. It seemed that everyone was stepping on the brakes when the green flag came out whereas I was full on the gas. We overtook nearly the whole field.
"Through the first turns everybody had cold tires and they were lifting off early in places where I didn't expect it. In turn 5, which is normally a full throttle turn, they started to lift off in front of me and I hit the car ahead of me, which spun me around and then it was déjà vu and I had to come back all the way from the rear of the field.
"I think the morale was a little bit destroyed at that point because fighting from where we were was pretty hard, if we could have stuck with the front it would have been different, but nonetheless I still kept pushing to gain as many positions as possible."We'll come back strong at our next race."
