SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey says he is excited by the prospect of the British semi-final taking place at the Eddie Wright Raceway next Friday. The line-up includes several recent members of the GB squad, including Simon Stead, Lewis Bridger, Tai Woffinden and Edward Kennett, with the top seven riders qualifying for the Final along with those who come through the second semi at Sheffield on May 19.Godfrey said: "We've seen time and time again that reputations and sharp gating don't win races at Scunthorpe. Riders have to give it everything or they will be passed by more committed riders. "The field is so strong and, unlike the Ben Fund meeting, we don't have to provide a slick track. It has the makings of an outstanding speedway meeting as riders fight to make the British Final."

DUDLEY have brought in Danny Stoneman to complete their team re-shuffle.The Heathens had already signed Kyle Newman to replace the injured Adam Roynon but needed to make a second change to come under the points limit, and Stoneman has taken the position in place of Luke Chessell.Club chairman Nigel Pearson said: "We cannot fault Luke for his effort, he has tried his heart out. We wish him well for the future and hope to see him fixed up elsewhere soon."Our club partner, Gary Patchett, took a call from Danny Stoneman's camp saying they would prefer to take up the option of a team place with us rather than waiting for Mildenhall to decide if they wanted him - and even then it was only short-term to cover for Cameron Heeps."
