SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey has confirmed the re-arranged British semi-final will go ahead as planned this Friday, with the same line-up.Rain forced the postponement of the original staging last week, but the majority of the British Final field should be known after the meeting with the other semi taking place at Sheffield on Thursday.Godfrey said: “Obviously, the restaging date causes problems for some of the riders and their clubs but every date I looked at, from last Saturday to Sunday to Monday and so on, all of them had an effect on the riders, so in the end all we could do was put it back a week to this Friday.“We have to run the meeting as soon as we can because the British Final is looming up at Wolverhampton early next month and so obviously the semi-final must be completed well before then.”

LAKESIDE promoter Jon Cook his hoping to attract new supporters to Purfleet as the Hammers stage a rare Saturday night of racing this weekend.Cook’s side take on King’s Lynn in the Elite League in only the second Saturday meeting of recent times – although in the past it was a regular night of action in Essex.Cook said: “It’s really exciting to be presenting Saturday night racing to the fans at our Raceway and we hope the team sets up to the mark and provides again the superb entertainment we have seen so far this season plus many would have seen live on TV on Monday. “League points are crucial as ever and it’s the perfect night for the first timer to come and see what Speedway is all about.”

EASTBOURNE promoter Mike Bellerby believes the visit of ex-Eagle Nicki Pedersen to Arlington on Monday will be one of the highlights of the season.Pedersen enjoyed a successful stint with the Eagles between 2003 and 2007, and his first return with his new club Peterborough is set to attract plenty of interest.Bellerby said: “Nicki will always have a special place in the history of Eastbourne Speedway but he can expect no favours on his return to Arlington. It is great that he is back in British speedway and I am not surprised Sky selected this meeting for their visit to Sussex this year.“He’s a great entertainer on track and I hope our fans will turn out and support their team. It really does make a difference to the riders when they can hear fans cheering.”(FIXTURES)
