(SPEEDWAY 1) BERWICK have signed 20-year-old Swedish rider Alex Edberg to replace shoulder injury victim Hynek Stichauer.Edberg will make his Bandits debut next Saturday in their home clash with Glasgow having previously raced in the UK as part of the Team Viking set-up.Berwick co-owner John Anderson said: “We must emphasise that Alex is coming in as an ‘injury replacement’ and we have the option of returning to our regular 1-7 line-up once the Czech Republic doctors have given Hynek final clearance.“This will be a better option than using guests or the rider-replacement regulation each week – and of course, we’re hoping Alex Edberg proves to be a revelation in the UK.”

(SPEEDWAY 2) STEVE Boxall made a successful return to Hoddesdon with three race wins in his first home appearance of the season for Rye House.Boxall, who missed the early stages of the season due to injury, scored ten (paid eleven) in the Rockets’ impressive 54-39 win over Premier League leaders Somerset, with Chris Neath collecting a paid maximum.Boxall said: “I’m just so happy at the moment. To be honest I didn’t fully expect it, but it was what I wanted to do tonight, not only for me but for the fans. We’ve had such a good replacement in Jason Doyle, and it’s left me with a lot to step up to in order to fill his shoes. “I am really glad to be back, and I’ve got some good equipment behind me this year, which will hopefully help me carry on from here and put my average up to where I want it to be.”

(SPEEDWAY 3) STOKE opened their home National League campaign with an impressive 57-36 victory over Mildenhall at Loomer Road.Jaimie Pickard scored a five-ride paid maximum for the Potters, and Jon Armstrong proved to be the perfect guest for No.1 Simon Lambert as he was unbeaten from his four outings.Pickard said: “While it’s great to go unbeaten by an opponent and gain a maximum it’s all about the team winning, and every point counts as our first aim is to make it to the play offs and then to push on from there. “It is about time this club had some silverware and while the Cup is important and we want to do well in the competition, it is the League we really want most.”
