The 70th Grand Prix de Pau: platinum anniversary in … gold

Defying the strikes of the air traffic controllers and one of the local daily papers 20 000 spectators came toencourage the drivers of the seventieth edition of the Grand Prix de Pau and the first Grand Prix Electriqueever held under a capricious weather. Stars on the track – – Olivier Panis, Franck Lagorce, Nicolas Lapierre,Soheil Ayari, French football player Fabien Barthez but also celebrities on the track side who came back toPau such as Jacky Ickx , Jean Ragnotti, René Arnoux, Jean Pierre Jarier and Nicolas Deschaux,Président of the FFSA came to support his French Championship.

The Circuit in the CityNine grids were in the running on the layout of the Circuit in the City including obviously the twoflagship competitions: the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy and the much awaited First Electrical GP ofPau; a world premiere that Pau can proudly add to its Visitor's Golden Book aside the first automobile GrandPrix ever.

Championship of France FFSA-F4: The track school

Number of drivers entered: 22 – Number of Races: 2 – Track time: Qualifying 30’ + Races 2x25’This unique school, first called la Filière Elf when it was created in 1993, was renamed Auto Sport Academyin 2007, then F4 in 2011. The federal institution organises a competition to train young drivers andmechanics. The President of the Fédération Française Automobile attentively watched this nationalchampionship race. The promising young drivers of the category gave their best to put their names in thePau prize list. Their motivation caused both a great show and several accidents.

Coupe F3 Classic: A classic among the ModernsNumber of entries: 35 – Number of Races: 2 – Track time: Qualifying 30' + Races 2x30'The Coupe F3 Classic gives the public the opportunity to discover or rediscover the prestigious ancestors ofthe 70th Grand Prix de Pau, once driven by Alain Prost, Riccardo Patrese, Nigel Mansell, Andréa De Cesaris,Mauro Baldi and other great champions.

The current single seater drivers who try, when possible, to keep the cars in their original colours. Thewhole grid offered a moment of nostalgia by reviving the greatest hours of motor sports on a legendarycircuit where several drivers offered interesting battles.

Coupe Peugeot 207 THP: A good start!Number of entries: 14 – Number of Races: 2 – Track time: Qualifying 2X40 + Races 2x30'This discipline is perfect to start in motor sports and the Coupe 207 THP gathers a spicy mix of the younggeneration and experienced drivers. Their battles on the track are always appreciated by the public. Andthis year was no exception: the first race was very eventful and finished under the red flag. The driverscalmed down for the second race and fair play was the name of the game.
