ITV Pundit Harvey To Make Ginetta GT Bow At Croft

Championship challenging Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup team Total ControlRacing is delighted to confirm former British Touring Car Champion anddouble Porsche Carrera Cup GB title winner Tim Harvey will race with thesquad at Croft in North Yorkshire this weekend, 18th/19th June.Harvey, who recently called time on his hugely successful career in PorscheCarrera Cup GB, will drive the car piloted previously by Switzerland-basedJoachim Ritter who has chosen to curtail his racing commitments at presentfor business and family reasons."It's fantastic for TCR to have Tim running with us at Croft", said teamprincipal Lee Brookes, "It will bring a lot of prestige to the team having adriver as well-known and as successful as Tim onboard, we're really lookingforward to working with him this weekend."Having been a mainstay of the national motor racing scene for close to threedecades, while also enjoying success on the international stage in the worldof sportscar racing, 49-year-old Harvey became a household name for hisexploits in touring cars in the 1990s.

Today, he is just as well known through his work as co-commentator for theBTCC race coverage on the ITV network. The Bicester-based driver alsoheads-up the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) 'Superstars' programme foryoung up-and-coming talent."This could be the start of a Ginetta chapter in my career!", said Harvey,"The reasons behind me stopping racing in Porsche are well documented andthe Ginetta G55 is a powerful, front-engined, rear-wheel drive car thatsuits my love of fast sportscars. It's a one-off for now but we'll have to see whathappens."Harvey will run as team-mate to TCR regular Carl Breeze for rounds 12, 13and 14 of the season and heading into the Croft weekend the Kings Lynndriver is just 25 points shy of the championship lead with two wins andseven other podiums to his credit so far in 2011.Following testing on Friday, 17th June, qualifying and round 12 of theMichelin Ginetta GT Supercup will take place at 13.40 and 16.30 on Saturday,18th June. Rounds 13 and 14 - which will be screened live on Freeview,digital satellite and cable channel ITV4, on the ITV4 HD channel andstreamed live online at itv.com/touringcars - will take place onSunday, 19th June, at 12.50 and 16.00.
