Successful Queensland businessman and motor sport competitor Tony Quinntoday announced major changes to the Australian GT Championship. The GoldCoast based head of the V.I.P. Petfoods empire has purchased the CategoryManagement Rights to the series from Martin and Rachael Wagg, theadministrators and promoters of the Championship since its inception.The national championship features exotic sports cars such as Ferrari,Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche, Dodge Viper and Mosler, and races atmajor events throughout Australia such as the Clipsal 500, Bathurst and theupcoming Townsville street race."Having a personal interest, and playing an active role in the motorsportindustry of Australia - I am excited to have acquired the rights of the GTseries, which I believe could become one of the premier motor sport seriesin the region. I am also pleased to announce the appointment of Gold Coastbased SPHERIX, as the independent operational managers of the series, whoare undoubtedly the most successful category managers currently in motorsport." Quinn said."This series has enormous potential, and it's our plan to investsignificantly in the development of the Championship. The Quinn family has a long and successful history in motor sport and bothTony and son Klark are current competitors in the Vodka O Australian GTChampionship.
The V.I.P. Petfoods brand is currently involved in V8 Supercars, TheAustralian Manufacturers Championship, the Australian V8 Ute Racing Series,plus Tony has been a regular competitor in tarmac rally events, winning bothTarga Tasmania and Targa New Zealand.The V.I.P. Team has also successfully competed in the Nurburgring 24endurance race, the Dubai 24 Hour endurance race, and the Bathurst 12 and 24hour events.
