Pomozzi spurs his drivers for Brno AutoGP

After a good start of the season, with a great podium finish clinched by Samuele Buttarelli in Race 1 in Monza, TP Formula had a less lucky weekend in Budapest, where the only points grabbed by the team were those clinched by Pasquale Di Sabatino, who finished eight twice. Looking to Brno, the Italian team is ready to get back into the fight for the top spots, as explained by Team Principal Gianluca Pomozzi: “When I came back from Budapest I was quite upset, because we had the potential to get much better results. In Qualifying Buttarelli had the pace for first row, but in his best lap he did a mistake into last corner and dropped to P7. It was a pity because in Hungaroring a recovery starting from the middle of the grid is very unlikely, and as we expected Samuele struggled with traffic and couldn’t show his real quickness.Things are quite different for Di Sabatino: he did just some spot races in 2010, so now his primary aim is getting back into the right race pace. That’s why our strategy was aimed at Race 2, and it worked because with 8th place on Saturday we got the pole position for the Sprint Race. On a track like Budapest, where overtaking is really difficult, starting from pole is a huge advantage and he had to make the most of it. Unfortunately he had a bad start, and he dropped back to 8th place. Mistakes like those can happen through a season, but in an hard fought Series like Auto GP it’s something that is going to cost you a lot”.Anyway, the competitiveness of the driver-car pairing has been proved, so Pomozzi keeps a positive mood looking to Brno: “I believe that we have what it takes to have a great weekend. Looking at pure speed there are few drivers out there that can match Buttarelli, so I believe that Samuele will have a shot at pole position. Then in the race his only task will be staying focused and keep a steady pace, I’m sure he will bring home a great performance. Concerning Pasquale, I expect him to keep improving as he did until now, and I hope he will bring us some more points”.
