(SPEEDWAY 1)BEN Barker and James Wright made it four British riders into the semi-finals of Grand Prix qualifying from Saturday’s meeting in Italy.Barker and Wright, who both ride for Elite League Birmingham, and in the Premier League for Plymouth and Workington respectively, both scored nine points at Terenzano.They join Edward Kennett and Daniel King, who came through their own qualifier in Denmark earlier in the weekend.The Italian meeting was won by Swindon’s Jesper B Monberg, with under-pressure Birmingham No.1 Krzysztof Kasprzak also going through with 13 points.(SPEEDWAY 2)STOKE were crowned National League Pairs champions after overcoming hosts Newport in the Final at Queensway Meadows.The Potters duo of Simon Lambert and Tim Webster came out on top in their group after a three-way battle with Mildenhall and Dudley, and they then packed in behind Newport’s Todd Kurtz in the Final for a crucial 5-4 race advantage.Lambert said: “It’s been a great night for everyone at the club and the supporters that have come down to support us here tonight. “When we made the start in the final we saw Todd go around us both, but we both knew what we had to do to settle in for second and third and keep Jay (Herne) at bay, and we did just that.”(SPEEDWAY 3)GLASGOW have gone to the top of the Premier League table in style by recording the biggest away win in their history.The Tigers triumphed 62-28 at Leicester on Saturday with James Grieves scoring a paid maximum and reserve Michal Rajkowksi also catching the eye with a paid-17 haul.Glasgow co-promoter Stewart Dickson said: “I sensed before the meeting that their heads were right down before the meeting and if we were to race to our capabilities then we could get the win, however the margin that we gained was far greater than we could ever have hoped for. “I said to the lads to fill their boots on nights like this because they do not come along too often, and to their credit they did just that.”(SPEEDWAY 4)BERWICK’S new-look side hit top form with an impressive 62-28 Premier League win over Ipswich at Shielfield Park.The Bandits made light of tricky conditions with recent signings Sebastian Alden (13), Alex Edberg (9+1) and Mitchell Davey (8+3) all scoring well in a solid all-round display.Team boss Ian Rae said: “This was a superlative performance by our side against an excellent team who really fought hard and made for some excellent racing despite the dank conditions.“This side rode like a single unit tonight and they all deserve credit for a magnificent score.
