East Coast Racing‏ Knockhill Race 2

It was another mixed day for the East Coast Racing riders during race two of the Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport Race at Knockhill. Despite a small rain shower as the riders lined up on the grid the race was cut short to 20 laps and remained dry for the entire race. Lee Johnston once again was riding well and suffered another heavy crash on lap 19 and Gary Johnson managed to finish in 10th place and gain some vital Championship points.

Gary started in 12th place for today's race and he once again gained a good start and was in eighth place after the first lap. He was locked in a battle with Luke Mossey, Marty Nutt and Dan Cooper and they were swapping places on most laps on the short 1.3-mile circuit.

Gary finally crossed the line in 10th place and commented "This was the first time I've raced the bike in the dry at Knockhill and we'd changed the shock for this weekend and we hadn't got a dry set up so I just had to go out and do the best that I could. I didn't want to do anything stupid and wanted to bring the bike home in one piece with some Championship points. I'm pretty knackered now and looking forward to a weekend off next weekend before heading to Snetterton the week after."

Lee Johnston once again was looking strong and confident and was in a solid sixth place and battling hard with Jesse Trayler and Paul Young. He was locked in a really tight battle with Jesse on the penultimate lap when he went down hard at Seat Curve and destroyed his East Coast Honda, thankfully Lee walked away winded but unhurt.

He said "I'm just gutted about this weekend in general it's been a total disaster for me. I know the East Coast Racing boys worked so hard last night to get my bike ready again for today after yesterday and then I went and crashed again. I was having a few problems getting the bike into gear and it all just went horribly wrong on the second to last lap. Gutted is the only word I can use and I'm really sorry to the team and my sponsors."
