After being spoilt with fantastic weather conditions at the opening two rounds of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park, things have not quite gone to plan since, the HEL supported riders headed to the Highlands at the weekend for round five of the Championship at Knockhill. In true Scottish fashion the rain came down heavy on Friday and Saturday and this made the HEL brake-lines once again play a huge part in the riders' performance.
It was HEL backed rider Shakey Byrne who once again put in a solid performance at Knockhill successfully managing not to get involved with the incidents that were occurring in both of the MCE Superbike races claiming a third in race one and second in race two.
Mention must go to Motorpoint Yamaha rider James Westmoreland who secured his best results of the year using HEL brake-lines. The youngster in his rookie year in the Superbike class gained a great seventh and fifth place in the two Superbike races.
It was a mixed weekend for all riders involved as the conditions were very bad on Friday and Saturday but the track dried for Sunday and the riders had not had much chance to find a good dry set up on their machines so the HEL brake-lines were essential to play a huge part with the different bike set ups.
HEL Performance would like to wish Jason O'Halloran a speedy recovery after he suffered injuries in the Superstock 1000 race, HEL hope he gets back to the racing soon.
The Harley Davidson XR1200 Trophy Championship held rounds two and three of their Championship at Knockhill at the weekend. All 14 riders were using HEL brake-lines, Peter Ward took the win in race one on with Alex Gault winning the second race.
