COVENTRY moved up four places in the Elite League table thanks to a 46-39 win over Eastbourne at Brandon – with in-form skipper Edward Kennett scoring a 12-point maximum.Bees boss Alun Rossiter was also delighted with the debut of new signing Peter Kildemand who scored seven (paid ten) in a match called to a halt one race early due to the weather.Rossiter said: “I’m very pleased with that, and it just goes to show what we can do when we have a proper team out. I don’t think the score really justifies our efforts, but everybody chipped in and it’s good to get all three points.“I’m really pleased with the debut of Peter Kildemand, because that’s what we’ve been lacking at reserve with no disrespect to Richard (Sweetman), and Edward was immense as well so it’s a good night all-round.”

SOMERSET promoter Debbie Hancock is optimistic that the Rebels can end their wait for a Premier League Pairs title on Friday.Sam Masters and Cory Gathercole represent the home side in the showpiece event at the Oak Tree Arena as they chase their first-ever win, but Hancock believes there are threats right through the competing line-up.She said: “Looking at the riders who will be representing their respective teams it certainly appears to be a very open Championship, though of course I would love to see Somerset on the top step of the podium come the end of the meeting.  “At the end of the day though, so long as it is another exciting meeting just as it has been the previous four years that it has been staged here, and the fans have a good time, then it will have all been worthwhile.”

KING’S Lynn boss Rob Lyon has highlighted the strength of Wolverhampton ahead of Wednesday’s Elite League clash at the Norfolk Arena.A succession of postponements at home, including on Monday night at Peterborough, have left Wolves playing catch-up, and Lyon says his side will need to be at their best to take maximum points. He said: “Neither team can afford to lose this and to be honest on paper Wolverhampton have been my biggest worry this season. They have a team suited to our track and I really can’t see how the top five from each team are going to gain any points from each other. “Tai Woffinden, Peter Karlsson and Freddie Lindgren are all very fast around here but then add Ty Proctor and Ludvig Lindgren into the mix and it starts to look really tough. All I can say is that the fans should expect some big battles out on the track!”

ISLE of Wight co-promoter Chris Hunt has warned his side that changes could be on the agenda if results do not improve. The Islanders will have increased options soon with injured riders close to a return, and Hunt is keen to see an upturn in time for the club’s busiest spell of the season in the National League. He said: “The team has really got to start performing, we've not all clicked together so far, they really have to look to doing that or we may have to look into team changes.“We need to have a successful team on the Island, you can't just go through the motions of being also-rans. It's a hard sport and we have to try and keep the public happy.”(FIXTURES)
