Campos Jr. set for Auto GP Donington return

He got back to full steam training in one month and a week, against the three months that the doctors where expecting: Adrian Campos jr. made a really quick recovery, and he will be back in Auto GP already from the Donington round. The Spaniard showed an impressive strength of will, working hard day after day to fully recover from the two fractured vertebrae he suffered in the Monza crash. Now he is looking forward to getting back into the fight, as he explains:“I’m really satisfied with myself and the job I did. Immediately after the accident I said that my aim was to halve the recovering time set by the doctors, but I did even a bit better than that. As my conditions started improving I wanted to be back in the car already in Brno, but it would have been too early, so I had to wait for Donington”.What did you do to get such a quick recovery?“I pushed as hard as I could with all the recovery therapy: Everyday I had workout sessions with controlled load, and I also had a lot of magnet therapy sessions to heal the fractures. For five weeks I had only one day of rest per week, and the feedback from my body was very good”.Now you got back to “real” training, do you think that you will have enough time to get in Donington in perfect shape?“I think so, I am really working at full steam: during training and immediately after I don’t feel any pain, while some hours later I just have a spot of bother, but nothing serious. I can work hard at the gym, and also during the recovery period I could train my shoulders a bit, so with two weeks remaining to prepare for the event I should be ok”.Your rivals already have three full events under their belts, while your Auto GP experience will be limited to the Monza Free Practice. Do you think it will be a big handicap?“Surely having covered much less mileage than the others is an handicap, but I’m not worried. Already before the season I knew that my primary aim for 2011 was getting some experience on this kind of car, all the more so I know that there is no pressure on me to get a win or a podium finish now that I’m coming from such a crash. Obviously this doesn’t mean that I won’t do anything I can to make the most of any chance…”Do you know Donington?“Yes I do, and I really like it. I raced there in F3 but it was on a wet weekend, so I don’t think that such experience will prove useful. The Auto GP performance is in another league, so all my marks will need to change accordingly. I think that the First Practice will be enough to do that anyway”.
