Bart Hylkema looks forward to Nurburgring

Racecar have just designed a new web site for F3 National class driver - Bart Hylkema - he is racing this weekend at the Ring - he'll be looking to extend his lead in the Rookie class - and get in amongst the Class A cars hopefully.

DUTCH RACER HYLKEMA LOOKING FORWARD TO NURBURGRING RETURN Germany’s Nurburgring will host the fifth race meeting of the 2011 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series this weekend, 2nd/3rd July, marking the first time this year Bart Hylkema will be competing at a track he has previous experience of…and he can’t wait to get started.Although every circuit visited so far in his debut season of F3 action – Monza in Italy and UK venues Oulton Park, Snetterton and Brands Hatch – have been brand new challenges for the 21-year-old, he has been hugely successful with nine class wins from the 12 races contested to date. With past knowledge of the Nurburgring from his time racing in Formula Renault, Bart is relishing his return to the 2.8-mile (4.5-kilometre) circuit and the season-long leader of the ‘Rookie Class’ aims to secure three more wins to enhance his championship advantage.“It’ll be good to be racing back in Europe and especially at a track I know from when I was in Formula Renault”, said Bart, “I’ve had some good results there in the past and it’s a circuit I enjoy driving on so hopefully we can have a very strong weekend. Every track so far has been new to me but we’ve still been fast and gone well, hopefully Nurburgring will be the highlight of the year so far.”As has been the case since the start of the championship, Bart’s main goal is to secure the Rookie Class title but the greater challenge of getting in amongst the quicker International Class cars is becoming a bigger and bigger focus. With an eye on graduating to the main headline class of British F3 for 2012, the Delft-based driver is keen to prove he’s capable of racing wheel-to-wheel with the best competitors the category has to offer despite the difference in speed and development between his Mugen-Honda powered Dallara F307 and their current specification cars.He added: “Of course, the main thing for us is to keep picking up wins for the Rookie Class and to try and extend our lead in that. The bigger challenge is to race with the quicker A-class cars and that’s something we’re getting close to achieving. At Brands Hatch last time we did manage to keep ahead of some A-class guys and race well with them so I’m aiming for more of that in Germany.”Two free practice sessions will take place at the Nurburgring on Friday, 1st July, ahead of qualifying and round 13 of the season on Saturday, 2nd July, at 09.45 (local time) and 15.25 respectively. On Sunday, 3rd July, round 14 will begin at 10.45 and round 15 will get underway at 14.00. Highlights will be screened on the Motors TV network throughout Europe – visit www.motorstv.com for details.
