Lola aim high at Imola ILMC

Lola LMP customers head to the fourth round of the inaugural Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and third race of the 2011 Le Mans Series at Imola near Bologna this weekend on the crest of a wave after exceptional results at the Le Mans 24 Hours earlier this month.

Five Huntingdon designed and built LMP cars are in action at the former San Marino Grand Prix venue with Rebellion Racing, Team RLR, Pecom Racing and Level 5 Motorsports all entering cars for the first major mixed prototype and GT race at 3.050mile track since 1984.

After placing three of its cars in the top ten at Le Mans and being the first British built car to finish the gruelling 24 hours, Lola engineers are confident of another strong performance from the LMP1 and LMP2 entries.

After three rounds of the 2011 ILMC, Lola sit 4th in the LMP1 class and 3rd in the LMP2 category with Rebellion Racing and Level 5 Motorsports respectively. The latter of these teams will be racing this weekend with their open- topped Lola (B11/43) that has so far competed in the American Le Mans Series, winning the LMP2 class at Sebring in March.
