(SPEEDWAY 1)PETERBOROUGH ended top-of-the-table Poole’s six-match winning run – to boost their own chances of an end-of-season play-off spot. The Panthers won 49-44 at the Showground with the Nicki Pedersen/Linus Sundstrom combination producing three 5-1s, with the Pirates also taking a point from the meeting thanks especially to Chris Holder’s race wins in the closing stages.Sundstrom said: “We knew it was going to be really, really tough and Poole are at the top of the league for a reason, but we fought for it really hard."We got off to a good start and everyone chipped in. I like riding in Heat 1, it's nice when you can win your first race and Nicki is good to ride with and we ride well together.”(SPEEDWAY 2)BELLE Vue stormed to a 58-35 victory over Lakeside, their close rivals for an Elite League top four play-off place, in a controversial match at Kirkmanshulme Lane.Riders from both sides struggled early on with a patchy surface but the Aces handled the tricky conditions better to extend their lead over the Essex club to four points – with reserve Craig Cook excelling with a 15 (paid 19) score.Belle Vue boss Jim Lynch said: “I guess there will be complaints from the Lakeside management and riders about the condition of the track in the first half of the meeting. But people must understand that if we put on a slick track it would be like giving the keys of the castle to Lakeside.“Craig didn't like the track early on but he still went out there and had his best meeting for us.”(SPEEDWAY 3)WOLVERHAMPTON edged out West Midlands rivals Birmingham in a close-fought local derby at Monmore Green.Freddie Lindgren and Peter Karlsson secured a last-race 4-2 for a 46-43 win, but the Brummies also took a point from the meeting and their No.1 Krzysztof Kasprzak displayed a welcome return to form with ten points including a Heat 1 win over Lindgren.Karlsson said: “It was a very tough meeting and Birmingham put on a good show, they took us by surprise without a doubt.“I know we have dropped another home point, but it could have been worse and we’re just pleased with the win.”(SPEEDWAY 4)BERWICK’S Alex Edberg will make a full recovery from the injuries sustained last weekend – and he’s already targeting a Bandits return next season. The young Swede has undergone surgery on a broken collarbone and a chipped bone at the base of his back, and doctors have reported it to be a complete success.Berwick boss Ian Rae said: “Alex has full movement in all his limbs. His collarbone has been plated and pinned and his back has been fixed up. His broken ribs will heal in time and his punctured lung has re-inflated and basically put itself right, and his cuts and lacerations to his forehead are certainly no problem at all.“All indications are saying he will be fully and completely fit in around 12 weeks, but has been advised to keep off the bikes for a further three months. But he’s already told me, with his father in full support, that he wants to get on with training in mid-winter and rejoin the Bandits in March 2012.”
