Ocean Racing Technology is taking on a new challenge this weekend at the latest version of the mythical Silverstone circuit, which is hosting the 9th and 10th races of the GP2 Main Series championship, whose 2011 calendar includes 18 races.
After an excellent showing at Valencia, before the European Grand Prix, Ocean Racing Technology is confident that it can move to the next level in Great Britain and score its first points. Kevin Mirocha's 8th place finish in Spain was a good indicator of the team's potential, but did not completely reflect this potential. The young German driver is more confident than ever before Silverstone's practice session, "At Valencia, I started in 26th position and I finished in the top 10. So I expect that qualifying will go better at Silverstone, which will enable us to have higher ambitions during the races. I think that this circuit can help me reach my objectives. It will be anything but easy, the track is complex and very fast, and we will have to count on that wonderful English weather!" Mirocha joked.
After summarizing the first meetings of the season, Johnny Cecotto Jr. confirmed that Ocean Racing Technology can have some serious hopes. "We have evolved quite well since the start of the year, and we have shown that we can be very fast. Without the involuntary mistakes made at Valencia, Silverstone could allow us to secure a very good result and score points. The teams are all very close to one another, but I think we are well-equipped to do justice to our ambitions," the Venezuelan driver declared.
As always at Silverstone, rain should be on the agenda for the season's English meeting. Rain should be light on Friday, but may intensify on Saturday. Temperatures will be below 20°C throughout the weekend. Both Silverstone races will be broadcast on Eurosport, Saturday at 6:15 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
