Mosler Takes Michelin Pole Challenge in Townsville GT Qualifying

Klark Quin's VIP Petfoods Mosler MT900 GT3 has taken pole position for raceone, round four of the Vodka O Australian GT Championship today (Friday, 8thJuly) at the Sucrogen Townsville 400.Quin's Mosler lapped the tight and twisty circuit in a time of 1.14.25 andin doing so not only grabbed the advantage for race one, but also a brandnew set of Michelin slick tyres for his trouble which he said was a greatreward for a big team effort.

"Normally just being on pole position is enough, but to take a new set oftyres away makes it all the more sweet and can't thank the team enough forgiving me a great car," he said.

"I love driving on street circuits as they really suit my car, but I mustadmit I was very much on the limit to get that time so I'm very satisfiedand can't wait for tomorrow."Beside Quin on the grid for tomorrow's race will be the Audi R8 LMS of MarkEddy just two tenths behind while the stunning Mercedes SLS AMG of TeamErebus driver Peter Hackett will start race one from third with theexperienced driver saying he was very happy with the new cars performance."I was able to make some electronic changes to the traction control and ABSthroughout qualifying which made the world of difference, so although weweren't the fastest, I'm pretty confident we have a strong race car fortomorrow."Kevin Weeks Supalock Lamborghini Gallardo didn't enjoy a strong qualifyingsession, finishing fourth, after two strong practice sessions earlier in theday, while the VIP Petfoods Aston Martin of Tony Quin will start from fifth.On Pole in the GT Challenge Class and also taking away a new set of Michelintyres for his effort, is the Bundaberg Rum supported Lotus Exige of TimPoulton.

Poulton qualified 11th outright and said that he was pleased with theperformance of the little four cylinder rocket."We are never going to match the pace of the front runners but its fun tocatch them under brakes and give them a bit of hurry up now and then," hesaid.
