Weeks Wins but Quinn extends Australian GT Championship Lead in Townsville‏

Kevin Weeks aboard his Supaloc Lamborghini Gallardo won race two of the Vodka O Australian GT Championship this morning at the Sucrogen Townsville 400, however Klark Quinn driving the V.I.P. Mosler MT900 won the weekend and in doing so extended his Championship lead.

Weeks, who suffered a drive through penalty for a start line infringement yesterday, bounced back to take a commanding win which he said was very satisfying after yesterday's indiscretion.

"The car has been really quick all weekend, so to be able to start from sixth, then finish in first place with an eight second margin was the best way to pay back the team after my drive through.""The Townsville circuit really suited my car this weekend, especially after we made some changes to the rear of the car after practice.""This has been our first visit to Townsville and given today's result, I hope it's not the last."Second in today's race once again was the Erebus Racing Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 of Peter Hackett who enjoyed a great battle with Klark Quinn's Mosler early on in the race, but the German supercar had too much straight-line speed and Quinn had to settle for third.

Greg Crick suffered a power steering failure on the warm up lap and elected to start from pit lane, however the Dodge Viper pilot put in a sterling drive to finish fourth."I knew within two corners that I had no power steering and really didn't want to go firing into turn one and hit someone," he said.

"It's not an easy car to drive without power steering, but I knew that once the field spread out I should be able to pick up some positions.""Finishing fourth was a good result, but all in all I'm disappointed the car had so many issues and I'm looking forward to Phillip Island where hopefully the weekend will be more trouble free."Mark Eddy's power steering woes continued from yesterday so once again the Audi R8 driver was left wondering what could have been, while brake issues with the V.I.P. Aston Martin of Tony Quinn saw the iconic British marque finish its weekend in the pits.

Angelo Lazaris was left heartbroken again after his Lotus suffered a mechanical failure on lap four. The Lotus underwent extensive repair work overnight and Lazaris said he was very disappointed for the Tafe repair crew that worked so hard to get the car back on track."The simple truth is we wouldn't have made the grid without the North QLD Institute of Tafe, and I would have loved to have brought the car home for Mick and the boys but it wasn't to be."Peter Boylan took home the spoils in the GT Challenge Class after a weekend of solid results in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car.Boylan now leads the GT Challenge Class by 9 points heading into Round four at Phillip Island in September. After this weekend's solid results, Klark Quinn has extended his Championship margin to 23 points over Mark Eddy's Audi and the Dodge Viper of Greg Crick. The Vodka O GT Championship now takes a break for a few months before a standalone round at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in September.

Replays of Round Four of the Vodka O Australian GT Championship can be seen on 7 Mate on Saturday 13th of August between 3.00 -3.30pm.
