Disappointing result for Racecar client - Leyton Clarke - master cylinder causes brakes to bind at Spa - a circuit where Leyton and Freddy should have been on the money.
PR below:
The bad luck which has plagued Maidenhead racing driver Leyton Clarke and his Swedish team mate Freddy Nordstrom throughout this season followed them all the way to the Belgium Grand Prix circuit of Spa Francorchamps for last weekends round of the British GT Championship. Both drivers knew the circuit well and were expecting the long fast straights of Spa to benefit their works supported Lotus Evora GT4 and were confident of getting to the top step of the winners podium and securing overall lead in the championship, instead of which they finished a disappointing 3rd in race one and fifth in race two.
“We’ve got a really good car and a strong driver pairing and we should be winning but it seems every time we race something goes wrong with the car and our chances are blown. At Brands Hatch we had had a problem with the fuel pump, at Spa it was the master cylinder causing the brakes to bind, prior the then we had suspension problems. In reality it’s remarkable we have managed to keep the car in second position in the championship and desperately hope our luck improves for the remainder of the season as we are still in with a chance of taking the lead. The tight nature of the circuit at Rockingham won’t really suit the car but after that we’ve got Donington and Silverstone Grand Prix circuits, we should be very quick there” said a frustrated Clarke.
The next round of the British GT Championship is on 4th September at Rockingham International Speedway.
