A 1-2-3 in Qualifying at Home in Donington in changing weather conditions
The three Chevrolet Cruzes will start from the three first positions on the grid of today's Race 1 at Donington Park, as they posted the three fastest times in both qualifying sessions today. Yvan Muller took his second pole position of the year, closely followed by Rob Huff and Alain Menu. The result was well received by the many fans, family and friends that are present supporting the Chevys this weekend, in what is the home race of the RML team, based a few miles away from Donington.
Typical British changing weather conditions were the order for today's qualifying, with the rain appearing in Q1 and then stopping suddenly. This had an impact especially on the Q1 results, as the fear of heavier rain led the Cruzes to be "too" fast and take the three best times, which mean positions 8 to 10 in the reversed grid for Race 2. Race 1, on the contrary, will see four Cruzes in the first three rows, as Darryl O'Young, at the wheel of the Bamboo Engineering car, took an excellent sixth in Q2.
