A mechanical failure and a collision force Tiago Monteiro to DNF at Donington‏

At Donington, time goes by and every day is different for Tiago Monteiro. OnFriday, due to a mechanical failure, the driver of the SEAT Leon #18 car wasunable to tuck into a single timed lap. On Saturday, he devoured qualifyingand was by far the best representative of SEAT Sun-Red, with two 4thposition starts on the grid for both English races in the FIA World TouringCar Championship (WTCC).

Sunday, once again, a mechanical failure in the first race and a contact witha competitor in the second forced him to bow out of both races early, without getting a chance to turn his excellent qualifying performances intopoints. Tiago only managed to drive for a dozen kilometers out of the total104 raced at the Donington meeting.

The disappointment is as great as his hopes, which were raised inqualifying when Tiago showed a great ability to adapt to a circuit he hadnever driven on before. "Worse would not have been possible!" Tiagosummarized, fatalistically. "In the first race, part of the front axle brokeand in the second race, Tarquini pushed on me and sent me into Nykjaer. MySEAT Leon's steering was off. There's no point in going on about thisweekend; we have to quickly forget this disillusion and concentrate on theupcoming races."

The 15th and 16th legs of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC)will be held on Germany's Oschersleben circuit on July 30 and 31.
