V8 Ute drivers score Paul Morris Supercar Test

V8 Ute racing front runners Grant Johnson and David Sieders will both try their hands behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar with Paul Morris Motorsport at Queensland Raceway, 4th August.

Both received the drive as part of their prize; Johnson for winning the 2010 Series and Sieders for winning the 2010 V8 Superschool Rookie of the Year title.

Johnson and Sieders have been lucky enough to be in a Supercar before, however they are both looking forward to the test.

"I'm super excited and can't wait to get back in to one (V8 Supercar)," said Sieders.Sieders hasn't been in a V8 Supercar since 2009, when he ran in the Fujitsu Series and also in the main game at Phillip Island and Bathurst with V8 Ute teammate Andrew Fisher.

The two will spend a day at Paul Morris Motorsport for theory training before the drive at Queensland Raceway the following day.

Paul Morris Motorsport Commercial Operations Manager Scott Jennings thinks it's important for the drivers to have a full understanding of the car before they get behind the wheel and sees this as a stepping stone for the two of them.

"Paul Morris Motorsport likes to give drivers the chance at a V8 Supercar drive and these two have shown their talent before and we hope to give them a good experience," said Jennings.

Johnson, the West Aussie, is really looking forward to the drive not having driven a V8 Supercar since 2003 (Larkham Motorsport).

"It's going to be a bit of fun and it will be interesting to see how the car has changed over the years."

"He (Paul Morris) runs a good show and he now has an alliance with Triple Eight. They've produced some good results over the years. All the front runners are on par these days and anyone can finish on the podium."

Sieders is also hoping to walk away with some knowledge from the experience.

"As a driver you never stop learning, whether it is from Craig Lowndes or a Go Kart driver, I think the experience with Paul Morris Motorsport will be well worth it," explained Sieders.

Johnson and Sieders are both running in the top four in the V8 Ute Series. Johnson is in second position only four points behind Ice Break Racing's Chris Pither and Sieders in fourth eight points behind VIP Petfood's Ryal Harris in third.
