Muscle Milk Team CytoSport's Mark Bullitt took part in his first IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama qualifying session on Canadian soil yesterday by placing 11th on the starting grid of Race 1.
Once again, Bullitt put in a strong performance in what was of a very tight battle in the GT3 Platinum Cup field where the top 11 drivers were separated by just over eight tenths of a second by the time the checkered flag fell on the 30 minute session.
The driver of the #6 Muscle Milk Porsche GT3 cup car registered a fastest lap time of 1:24.233 on his 11th of 12 laps, which initially put him 10th on the provisional grid.
However, the German lost a spot in the dying minutes of the session, placing him on the sixth row for tomorrow's 45-minute race.
While Bullitt would have liked to start closer to the front, the Muscle Milk pilot will be looking to repeat and improve on his performance from Lime Rock a couple of weeks ago where he started 11th and finished fourth.
Race #1 of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama will go green at 11:35 a.m. ET on Saturday, July 23 with Race 2 taking place Sunday, July 24 at 12:55 p.m. ET.

Muscle Milk AMR fastest in test session
Muscle Milk Aston Martin Racing drivers Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr took part in a one hour and 30 minute test session at Mosport International Raceway placing their Aston Martin LMP1 car atop the charts.
The duo will look to do the same on Saturday when official on-track activities begin for the Mobil 1 Grand Prix of Mosport. The team will have two practice sessions before qualifying at 4:25 p.m. ET that same day.
Qualifying will be streamed live on espn3.com starting at 3:30 p.m. ET with GT qualifying. Round 4 of the American Le Mans Series' 2011 season will also be streamed live on espn3.com starting at 2:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 24. The race will be broadcast on tape delay that same day on ESPN2 from 10:00 p.m. to midnight ET.
MUSCLE MILK QUOTES
IMSA GT3 CUP CHALLENGE BY YOKOHAMA DRIVER
Mark Bullitt, driver #6 Muscle Milk Team CytoSport"It's my first time at Mosport and I'm enjoying driving here. It's a really nice track with fast, flowing corners. The most interesting part of it is all the elevation changes and the high-speed corners. "Another interesting factor for this weekend in particular is the heat. It's very hot here and in the Porsche cup cars it gets really, really hot with all the gear on and that may play an important part in the 45-minute race."As for our qualifying today, it was OK. It could have been better but somehow we missed the sweet spot on the tires but we still did our fastest lap in the end. While our starting position is not too bad, I think we have a very good car for the race and I'm sure I can run the same pace in the Muscle Milk car for the whole 45 minutes."
