F3 Star Hylkema Relishing Spa-Francorchamps Return

Spa-Francorchamps will host the seventh race meeting of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series a week from now - an event Bart Hylkema is absolutely relishing with the Belgian track being one of only a small handful on the 2011 calendar he has past experience of. Just a few days removed from a very impressive debut in the upper echelon of British F3, off the back of his mid-season graduation from the 'Rookie Class' where he utterly dominated the first half of the campaign, the 21-year-old from The Netherlands is confident of continued improvements. Piloting one of the latest-specification Volkswagen-engined Dallara F311 cars during last weekend's event in Paul Ricard, France, the T-Sport driver immediately proved his pace with a best result of eighth position - a superb recovery drive after pitting at the end of lap one for front wing repairs. Already making his mark as a genuine front-running contender in the headline class of British F3, the visit to Spa this coming Friday, 29th July, and Saturday, 30th July, will afford Bart a great opportunity to try and hit the ground running having previously raced at the legendary circuit in Formula Renault. "Most of the tracks we're visiting this season are completely new to me so it'll be nice to go back to Spa next weekend and already have some experience of the circuit", said Bart, "Of course, I need to learn how to get the most from the F3 car but already knowing the track will be a big help. We'll be able to focus on finding a good set-up from the off really, that has to be the main goal to begin." Running as support to the 'Total 24 Hours of Spa' endurance race, the British F3 action will therefore begin a day earlier than would normally be the case with practice scheduled for Thursday, 28th July, while qualification and racing will follow on Friday, 29th July, and Saturday, 30th July. Some extra spice into the mix will be the inclusion of several 'invitational' drivers into the Formula 3 encounters with the three Spa races also forming part of the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy. As it stands, more than half a dozen racers from the F3 Euroseries will be involved adding another very interesting element to the action. "With the guys from F3 Euroseries at Spa too there will be even more competition next weekend but I'm really looking forward to the challenge", added Bart, "We showed good pace at Paul Ricard and I was very happy to end the weekend in the overall points. I think we have a good chance to improve even more at Spa, I'm definitely feeling quite confident." British F3 qualifying will get underway at Spa-Francorchamps at 09.50 (local time) on Friday, 29th July, followed by rounds 19 and 20 of the season at 13.15 and 16.50 respectively. Round 21 will follow on Saturday, 30th July, at 12.40 and will also be screened live across Europe on the Motors TV network - check listings or visit motorstv.com Click here for the Bart Hylkema web site  www.barthylkema.com   built by Racecar
