French pair rounds perfect weekend, while Montermini-Moncini (overall) andBontempelli-Gattuso (GTS) become new points leaders by shortest margin

Brands Hatch, 24 July 2011Soheil Ayari and Nicolas Marroc rounded a perfect weekend for JMB Racing by takingvictory also in Race 2 in Brands Hatch, after leading from their pole position on thegrid all the way through to the chequered flag. They preceded the AF Corse Ferrari ofLuca Rangoni-Alessandro Garofano and the Kessel Ferrari 458 GT3 of LorenzoBontempelli-Stefano Gattuso, who obtained their fourth win of the season in GTS.Andrea Montermini-Emanuele Moncini (Villorba Ferrari) crossed the line third, butwere penalized with 20” seconds for not serving the entire handicap, losing oneposition. Still, the Italian pair has managed to take the lead in the overall standingsby only one point, as Frezza-López (Vittoria) had another gloom day, exiting the racein lap 1.One point is also the diff

erence in the standings of the GTS category, whereBontempelli-Gattuso are trailed by Fabio Babini-Gianluca Roda (Autorlando Porsche),today 2nd. The Sports&You Mercedes of Marcello Puglisi-Nicola De Marco repeated itsthird position of yesterday.

Marroc takes the lead from the pole, ahead of Moncini, Rangoni and a string of GTS:Gattuso, Puglisi, Mortimer, Jelley, Babini and Geddie. The first lap is fatal to theVittoria Competizioni F430 as López is pushed into the gravel, while shortly after isthe Sunred of Rosell hitting the Armco.Battle is fierce at all stages in the initial laps, with the Trackspeed Porsche of Jelleybeing passed by Babini and Geddie after a close fight in lap 8. In the lead, Marrocseems to slow all of a sudden, being catched and attacked by Moncini and Rangoni,but the Frenchman resists to the attacks and in the action, Rangoni takes second fromMoncini, who is among the first ones to stop for the driver change. At that stage,Ceccato is 13th and Ramos 14th.

After the pit stops and handicaps, Garofano is in the lead but cannot resist long toAyari, who passes on lap 23, followed by Montermini (20 seconds) behind,Bontempelli, Bamford, Roda, Barba (who has to serve a drive-through for speeding inthe pit lane), De Marco and Cadei, while Peter is slowed by a puncture, likeyesterday, and Bamford spins at Paddocks (lap 27). Ayari’s leadership gets stronger asMontermini receives a 20-second penalty for not serving the entire handicap andGarofano goes wide at Hill, losing only some seconds. Bontempelli, third overall,logically takes the win in GTS ahead of Roda and De Marco.
