Round 6: Fern Furnishing Alwoodley MC Autotest, 24 JulyRichard Pinkney kept his title hopes alive by winning the Alwoodley Autotest in his Caterham 7 after a day-long battle with championship leader Steven Ferguson’s Mini Special.

Ferguson's challenge ended with a broken transmission and a 30-second penalty on Test 14. However, some great pit-work saw the gearbox changed in less than 40 minutes, allowing Ferguson to finish the event in fifth overall.

This also allowed reigning champion Alastair Moffatt to claim a valuable class win. With dropped scores coming into effect at the next round there is everything to play for, with five drivers still in with a chance of winning this year’s title.Results1 Richard Pinkney (Caterham 7) 832.22 Simon Echlin (Caterham 7) 850.73 Robin Lyons (Mini 1400) 851.0 Championship positions (provisional)after Round 61 Steven Ferguson – 60 points= David Thompson – 603 Alastair Moffatt – 574 Rob Rolston – 475 Brian Sharpe – 4
