Dan Brown and Glynn Geddie take GT3 victory at Brands Hatch International Open

BRIT DUO’S DELIGHT

BRDC Rising Stars, 20-year old Dan Brown and Glynn Geddie (21), proved their speed and true mettle by taking a classy GT3 victory and fourth overall in a one-off International GT Open appearance at Brands Hatch on Saturday.

From a third place GT3 class qualifying slot and tenth overall - including a 15-second new entrant penalty - the young British duo powered their regular STP AF Corse Ferrari 458 up the field, to within seven seconds of the outright GTS winner, to claim the GT3 class after 46 laps of the 2.3 mile GP circuit.

Dan Brown commented:  “It was good to mix it with the faster GTS cars, and finish less than seven seconds behind the overall winner, despite that fact that they are quite a bit quicker through the turns.  Our STP AF Corse Ferrari 458 was faultless, which was really encouraging after such a disappointing year to date with the car in the FIA GT3 Europe series.

“Hopefully, those problems are now behind us and Glynn and I can show our true pace in the remaining four GT3 rounds, starting at Slovakia Ring on August 21st.”

With a smooth driving style that flatters his tender age, Brown commented that he’s already somewhat of a veteran of the Brands Hatch GP circuit. ”It’s my sixth year racing here, starting with T-Cars back in 2005, although I actually first took to the circuit at a track day when I was 13.”

An additional 15-second success penalty pegged the duo’s progress in the second race on Sunday, but despite that, they finished 5th in class, to cap a good weekend.
