(SPEEDWAY 1)DUDLEY collected their first item of major silverware with victory in the National League Fours on Saturday. The former Cradley club, who returned to racing last season, overcame Belle Vue, host club Stoke and Mildenhall in the Final with comeback man Adam Roynon unbeaten from his two rides, and Ashley Morris securing the silverware by winning the final race.Boss Will Pottinger said: “Nights like this make everything worthwhile. It was very tense, but Ashley was brilliant to win it for us in the last race.“It was nice for us to celebrate with our fans, once again they were brilliant!”(SPEEDWAY 2)WORKINGTON maintained their 100 per cent home record with a 53-42 win over fellow Premier League title challengers Glasgow. Both sides were badly hit by injuries and illness, but Comets’ regulars Richard Lawson, Rusty Harrison and Kenni Ingalls all hit double-figures and were well-supported by guest Tero Aarnio.Workington boss Tony Jackson said: “It was a match that we had to win in order to keep up the pressure at the top of the table and, while both sides had riders missing, I am delighted with the way that our guys rose to the challenge. “Richard maintained his recent fine form while rode through the pain barrier once again and we could not have asked for any more from Tero, who did an absolutely first-class job for us.”(SPEEDWAY 3)BERWICK came out on top in their local derby clash with Newcastle in front of a big crowd at Shielfield Park. The Bandits held on for a 49-43 win, with recent signing Sebastian Alden top-scoring with 13 points and Josef Franc making sure of the victory by taking Heat 14.But Newcastle, who currently have several regulars on the sidelines, did finish close enough for a league point thanks to the scoring of Stuart Robson (13+1) and guest Jason Lyons (14).Berwick boss Ian Rae said: “The Diamonds rode this match hard and we had to deal with some good solid opposition, but at the end of the night our strength in depth pulled us out of the mire and our win was deserved, albeit a bit close to the wire at the conclusion.”(SPEEDWAY 4)RYE House skipper Chris Neath thanked team-mate Jordan Frampton for the loan of a machine during the Rockets’ 54-41 win over Plymouth.Neath overcame his problems to score eleven points, a tally matched by Steve Boxall as the home side collected all three points in a match which remained entertaining thanks to the efforts of Devils’ duo Ben Barker and Ricky Wells.Neath said: “It was nice to finally be able to do some meetings here - albeit on Jordan’s bike in three of my heats, for which I need to say a huge thank you to him. “I had problems before the meeting, and tried to swap bits from my spare bike and ended up with neither working! It’s cost me a fortune, because the thing has timed out wrong, got too hot and melted the piston.”(SPEEDWAY 5)IPSWICH have confirmed that Chris Mills will replace the injured Taylor Poole in next Sunday’s Premier League Fours at Leicester.Poole has another consultation on his injured hand this week but is unlikely to ride in the immediate future due to the severity of the inflammation.Witches boss Pete Simmons said: “Obviously we want to give the Fours our very best shot and we would rather have Taylor in than out, but we can't afford to bring him back too soon and jeopardise the rest of the season. “Chris Mills will replace him and Jerran Hart moves to reserve.”
