Oman Air Racing Team driver Ahmad Al Harthy made a flying visit to the UK this week for his first test at the new Snetterton 300 Circuit - essential mileage ahead of the resumption of the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship at the Norfolk venue next weekend, 6th/7th August.Almost three weeks since he debuted in the FIA Formula One World Championship-supporting Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Silverstone during British Grand Prix weekend, the 29-year-old's focus now returns to his regular commitments in the UK series.On Thursday, 28th July, Ahmad arrived for a full day of running at the newly configured 2.97-mile track and enjoyed a highly productive test in which he and the team worked on qualifying and race set-ups.Delighted with the progress made, the Oman Air, Nawras, National Bank of Oman, Brand Oman, Oman Ministry of Sports Affairs and Oman Ministry of Tourism-backed racer now heads into the second half of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season feeling highly confident."I'm really, very pleased with the work we completed at Snetterton", said Ahmad, "The new track is a good challenge, I like the infield section as it adds something different and I think it should deliver some really close Porsche racing. We made some good progress with the set-up so hopefully we can begin the second half of the season strongly when we're back here next weekend."Following pre-event practice next Friday, 5th August, qualifying for rounds 10 and 11 of the season will take place at 15.00 on Saturday, 6th August. Both races will be contested on Sunday, 7th August, at 09.00 and 15.25 respectively with Freeview, cable and digital satellite channel ITV4 broadcasting the second encounter live in the UK.
