Isaac Tutumlu has finished 12th in Hungary
Good race for Spanish driver of Kurdish origin at Hungaroring, where he has had an interesting performance at the wheel of his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup lined-up by Barzani Racing Team-MRS.
Isaac Tutumlu completed an interesting meeting at the Hungaroring, where a new event for Porsche Supercup was held. Tutumlu, who was driving for second time in 2011 in this championship, got to overcome his bad Friday due to mechanical issues.
His Porsche 911 GT3 Cup had gearbox problems during free practice session, which was a terrible news for Tutumlu, because he could make just five laps.
In qualifying, after his poor mileage on Friday and because he couldn´t get a good set-up, 26 years-old driver set 17th best time on the starting grid. “We improved in qualifying session, but obviously I lacked confidence both my car and the track. Also I made a small mistake during my best qualifying lap, losing five tenths and I think I could have achieved 12th place on the starting grid”.
On Sunday, the race was really hard for drivers because of rain and slippery track conditions. “I have taken it easy during early laps, because it was my first time in wet conditions driving this Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. At the halfway point, I begun to improve my lap times, but sadly I spun and l lost twenty seconds. However I didn´t give up and I caught my rivals again thanks to I set second fastest lap in race. Two laps more and I think I could have to overtake them”, Tutumlu explained after his 12th place, very close to the top-ten. Tutumlu said too that “it was a shame not to be in the top-ten, but the result is good enough to approach next races in good shape driving my Barzani Racing Team-MRS´ Porsche”
Now Porsche Supercup takes a summer break, and next venue for this championship is scheduled on 26th-28th August at Spa-Francorchamps, the famous Belgian track.
