Al Harthy Second Fastest In Pro-Am 1 During Snetterton Qualifying‏

Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship racer Ahmad Al Harthy aims to be in "attack mode" during rounds 10 and 11 of the season at Snetterton 300 Circuit on Sunday after a mixed, yet very positive, qualifying session at the Norfolk track, Saturday, 6th August.Despite being frustrated with a distinct lack of space on track and traffic on almost every lap of the 30-minute session, the Oman Air Racing Team driver still managed to secure second place on the Pro-Am 1 grid for the first of the weekend's races. On his opening run, Ahmad posted a time of 1m54.021 seconds - which ended up being his second best effort of the session. On his final full lap of qualifying though, he climbed the order from fourth in Pro-Am 1 to second place with a time of 1m53.405 seconds (94.24mph)."We know we have very strong race pace but we tried to get a bit more out of the car in qualifying today", said Ahmad, "It was a frustrating session as we got stuck behind several slower cars, they were everywhere. Even when I backed off and tried to go again, then I'd meet someone who had just come out of the pits so it wasn't a smooth session for us.

"I'm pleased with second place on the grid for the first race tomorrow, we should be able to race well from there. Race two will be harder from fourth in Pro-Am 1 but I'm sure we can come through and fight for the podium. I'm definitely planning to be in attack mode!"Heading into Sunday's race action at the new Snetterton 300 Circuit, the Oman Air, Nawras, National Bank of Oman, Brand Oman, Oman Ministry of Sports Affairs and Oman Ministry of Tourism backed driver is third in the Pro-Am 1 driver standings with one victory and a total of six podiums.Round 10 of the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship will get underway at 09.00, Sunday, 7th August, with round 11 following at 15.25. The second of the Snetterton 300 encounters is to be screened live across the UK on Freeview, digital satellite and cable channel ITV4 and on ITV4 HD. The action will also be available globally at itv.com/touringcars
