Title challenging Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup team Total Control Racing hasconfirmed Scottish sportscar star Marino Franchitti will driveone of the squad's Ginetta G55 cars as a guest entry at Knockhill in Fifethis weekend, 3rd/4th September.Edinburgh-based Franchitti, brother of multiple IndyCar Series ChampionDario and cousin of FIA Formula One World Championship racer Paul Di Resta,is the latest high-profile name to compete with TCR in the flagship Ginettaseries - and he'll prove a massively popular addition to the grid.Although he hasn't competed at Knockhill for over a decade, Franchitti aimsto get to grips with the track and the 370bhp car very quickly and cancertainly expect plenty of partisan support in front of his home crowd."It's 10 years since I've raced at Knockhill, the track has been widenedsince then and they've had some profile changes on the corners so it will belike learning a new track", said the American Le Mans Series ace, "Plus,I've never driven a Ginetta before so it'll be a completely new challenge.I'm really looking forward to it all, it's going to be a lot of fun and agreat opportunity to race at home."When I knew I'd be with TCR it filled me with a lot of confidence, myfriend Nic Hamilton races with the team in Renault Clios so I know a lotabout them. On Sunday, 4thSeptember, round 19 will get underway at 09.35 with round 20 following at15.30 - the third race of the weekend will be screened live on ITV4 and alsoon ITV4 HD.
