PETERBOROUGH’S 2006 Elite League title-winning captain Hans Andersen will rejoin the club this week.Andersen has agreed to make a Showground return in place of Nicki Pedersen, who has been released in order to focus on his Grand Prix efforts. Andersen’s first appearance will be at Swindon on Thursday.Panthers owner Rick Frost said: “Nicki is just below the cut-off for automatic qualification for the 2012 GP series and like everyone currently out of the top eight he has to make sure he gives absolutely everything to securing his GP future without having to rely on a permanent wild card selection.“Hans has no conflicting interests, is very keen to be racing in the Elite League for Peterborough again, is our own rider and a big favourite with our fans. It’s also an opportunity to look at our own assets before we begin formulating a team for next year. We’d like to thank Nicki for all his efforts this season and wish him well in the future.”

ELITE League leaders Poole saw their unbeaten home recorded ended by Belle Vue in tricky conditions on Monday evening. The Pirates, who have several lower-order injury concerns, went down 45-48 with Chris Harris winning the decisive final race and Rory Schlein holding third place.Poole star Chris Holder said: “It was tough out there tonight, we didn't have a great deal going for us luck-wise but we worked hard to get back into the meeting. Then in that final heat we had four riders all wanting to be on the same bit of track and that just wasn't possible. “We must now put this behind us, re-group hopefully with a fully fit side, although take nothing away from our two stand-ins tonight, Sam (Masters) especially, and go about trying to win the remaining meetings.”

PLYMOUTH are set to continue their team re-building by snapping up Travis McGowan who has recently been released by Somerset. The Devils want the experienced Australian to replace the injured Lee Smart, although paperwork issues may delay his debut.Promoter Mike Bowden said: “As soon as we heard that McGowan was available we made contact and agreed a deal with him for the remainder of the season.“Unfortunately, it seems there will be a delay in completing the required paperwork, so he may not be available for our matches at home to Newcastle and away to Rye House on Sunday.”
