Team Aon ready for Silverstone
It’s the final race weekend of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship and the action will take place at the home of British Motorsport – Silverstone. Tom Chilton, Tom Onslow-Cole and Andy Neate all scored points at Brands Hatch last time out and will be looking to put their Global Ford Focus well within the mix once again.Nine race weekends have passed and the 2011 season has seen the new Global Ford Focus take 3 podiums, 1 win and 1 pole position – an impressive stat for a car which is still under development. At the start of the year Chilton was quick out the blocks and put his car on the podium, he also stormed to pole at Knockhill and took the consequent win too. Last time out Onslow-Cole secured a great podium position in the second race of the weekend and Neate nearly had his first podium in the BTCC before putting two wheels on the grass and unfortunately ending his great race. Chilton came close to a podium position and scored points in all three races.Team Aon now look forward to Silverstone where Chilton and Onslow-Cole dominated last year. Chilton took two wins around the Northamptonshire circuit while Onslow-Cole took one and set the qualifying and race lap record. The final race weekend of the year is expected to be an extremely exciting and eventful meeting, while Team Aon drivers are not able to challenge for the title they are still fighting to bring their Ford Focus race machinery to the top step of the podium. With all three cars consistently in the points at Brands Hatch, Silverstone could provide a great end to the season for Team Aon. Looking ahead to Silverstone, Tom Chilton said, “I’m feeling confident going to Silverstone. I like the circuit a lot and there are always a lot of spectators which is nice to see. We’ve gone well round here before so we should have a good weekend. It’s also the finals day and we know that anything can happen in the last round!”Team mate Tom Onslow-Cole said, “We had a positive weekend last time out at Brands Hatch, I had a podium and would love to continue this form at Silverstone. It’s a track I really enjoy driving and it always provides good races.”Reflecting on the last race, Andy Neate said, “Having narrowly missed out on a podium at Brands Hatch I want to put it right at Silverstone. The car felt great two weeks ago, probably the best it’s been all year, so we should be in for another positive weekend.”Click here for the Tom Chilton web site - designed and built by Racecar
