SAS Redline wins Porsche Carrera Cup GB team title

The SAS/Redline team has won the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB team championship with the cars of James Sutton and Michael Meadows. The team’s fourth title was secured in the penultimate race of the season at Silverstone on Sunday (16 October). The Cleveland-based team has contested the Carrera Cup GB since the championship started in 2003 and has always finished in the top three of the teams’ contest, previously winning the title in 2004, 2007 and 2009. Redline Racing is the most successful team in the nine-year history of the Carrera Cup GB with 66 wins from 179 races to date.Team boss Simon Leonard paid tribute to his entire team at the conclusion of a season that included 37 finishes from 38 starts for the two SAS-backed cars, scoring five wins and 20 podiums. The team’s only non-finish was the result of an accident for Sutton at the Nurburgring in June.“It’s a fantastic achievement for the whole team,” said Leonard. “It is what we’ve worked for all year and the boys have done a fantastic job.“It’s all about the whole team,” he continued. “The boys have put together very good cars and James and Michael have driven superbly. Without the support and backing of SAS none of this would be possible. We wanted to win both the drivers’ and teams’ championships and it all came together very well.”
