Honda rider Marco Simoncelli was involved in an accident shortly after the start of the Malaysian MotoGP.  He fell and his helmet knocked off in the accident and he was hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi as he slid across the track.

The race was red-flagged and subsequently cancelled.
