A great start to the new 2012 season for Riccardo Agostini, the 17 year old driver from Padova on his debut in the Italian F3 Championship and ItaIian F3 European Series.
Agostini was the fastest on the Mygale-FPT testing that took place this week on the Mugello Circuit.The JD Motorsport driver had proved to be perfectly comfortable with his new car. When he got on track on Tuesday and Wednesday, the first two sessions had been affected by the rain. Even with this weather conditions the young Venetian managed to hit the target and score the second best time overall and the best in his own category.
He completed all together 83 rounds of the Tuscan track, using three sets of tires: one in the morning, 2 in the afternoon. And just in the afternoon, only few minutes before the end of the last session, Agostini managed to reach the time of 1’39”946, being the only driver who overtook the limit of 1’40”.
Behind him, with a gap of 0”054, Eddie Cheever has ended his round, followed by the Brazilian Henrique Martins, the French Brandon Maisano and the Romanian Robert Visoiu who was the last of the top-5.In the morning we have struggled a bit to create the right set-up. - Riccardo Agostini commented - I hadnever tried this track before driving the F3, but at the end me and my team found the right mix.
The next appointment for the driver from Padova, fresh from two brillant seasons in the F.Abarth and now ready to take the next step, will be the 17th and the 18th of March in Hungaroring track. Then he will fly to Valencia, where the 1st of April will be held the first of the 8 rounds in the calendar.
