David Calvert-Jones Set for IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Debut at Sebring

Australian Racer to Drive No. 12 PC Tools Entry in Gold Cup Category

Australian driver David Calvert-Jones will take the next step in his racing career this season as part of the extremely competitive 2012 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama. Calvert-Jones, who goes by “CJ,” will drive the No. 12 PC Tools Porsche GT3 Cup in the Gold Cup class as part of Competition Motorsports.

CJ enters just his third year of racing in 2012. He began racing in the 2010 Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA) and earned Rookie of the Year honors driving a 1969 BMW 2002 and a 1970 Datsun 280Z. Last year, CJ competed in the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy West, earning a class victory and a runner-up result in a pair of races at Las Vegas, and also earned a GTC4 class victory in the Porsche Owners Club event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

“Moving into the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge is a significant step forward in my racing career and I’ve certainly got my work cut out for me in a deep field of talented drivers and teams,” CJ said. “I’ve got a passion for motorsport, and I am thankful to PC Tools for helping me feed that passion with outstanding support. I plan to be aggressive in promoting PC Tools’ involvement in my racing program. This year, I’m looking forward to learning the nuances of competing at a higher level and hopefully delivering some solid results along the way.”

The partnership with CJ in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge is PC Tools’ second foray into the fast-paced world of motorsport, after its partnership with Formula 1 feeder championship World Series by Renault last season. PC Tools offers a selection of protection and performance products that are used by millions of customers to help them stay safe online and to improve the stability and speed of their PC. PC Tools portfolio includes Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus and PC Tools Internet Security for online protection and performance products PC Tools Registry Mechanic and PC Tools Performance Toolkit.

“We’re delighted to continue our connection with world-class motorsport by sponsoring David Calvert-Jones in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge this year. We discovered the true passion of motorsport fans in Europe last year and realized that major spectator sports present a great opportunity to interact with partners, customers and motor-racing fans. Working with CJ and taking the PC Tools show car on the road across North America allows us to maximize the visibility of the PC Tools brand, and let everyone know how simple it can be to have powerful performance on your PC,” said Robert Oostergetel, Director of Sales at PC Tools.

The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama features semi-professional drivers racing head to head in the largest single-make series in North America. The multi-class structure of the series teaches drivers essential skills for an eventual career in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. The Platinum Cup class features 2010-2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, while the Gold Cup class will be for Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars from 2005 1/2 through 2009. All races are 45-minute timed events and all event weekends will feature two races except for a single event at the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in June.

The seventh IMSA GT3 Cup season gets underway this week with a pair of races at the historic Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla. as part of the 60th Anniversary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh From Florida. Round 1 is scheduled for Thursday, March 15 at 4:10 p.m. ET with Round 2 slated for 4:45 p.m. ET on Friday, March 16.
