THE top two clubs in the Elite League are both racing away from home on Monday as part of a packed top-league schedule - with no fewer than four matches taking place.Leaders Poole travel to bottom-placed Belle Vue, who are hoping Danish star Charlie Gjedde will be available to ride having been allowed home to attend the birth of his second child.Should the Pirates slip up at Kirkmanshulme Lane, Swindon would take over at the top with a win at Kings Lynn, who hand a debut to Ulrich Ostergaard in the doubling-up position.Elsewhere, Peterborough are looking to gain ground on the play-off places with a home clash against fourth-placed Eastbourne, whilst fierce Midlands rivals Wolverhampton and Coventry meet at Monmore Green. NEWCASTLES 55-39 Premier League win over Berwick was marred by a Heat 2 crash which saw two riders taken to hospital. The Diamonds Steve Worrall suffered a broken legwith his twin brother Richie also currently out of action for the same reasonwhilst the Bandits Jason King broke his arm.Newcastle boss George English said: Were delighted to have taken a good win over our local rivals, but its a big problem now as we have to find a replacement for Steve Worrall who has, like his brother, broken a fibula and will have to sit out a good deal of time on the sidelines.I would like to send Newcastle Speedways best wishes for a fast recovery from both Steve and indeed Berwicks Jason King as both were tangled up in what was a pure racing incident. Lets hope we see both back on their bikes as soon as possible.(SPEEDWAY 3)

MILDENHALL delighted their home supporters with victory in the National League Pairs courtesy of Lewis Blackbird and Cameron Heeps. The Fen Tigers duo finished three points clear of Buxtons Robert Branford and Charles Wright in the Final, with Dudley third and Scunthorpe fourth.Blackbird said: This is a brilliant day for everybody at Mildenhall. I didn't sleep at all last night as I was thinking about how tough a lot of the other riders would be to beat, even around our own circuit. But Cam and I worked really hard to make it happen and concentrated on making sure we picked up points from the minor places in the later part of the meeting. When I took over as skipper I promised the fans we would win them some trophies and now we've started to deliver exactly that.(FIXTURES)
