Motorcycle racing heads back to Rockingham

MOTORCYCLE racing thunders back to Rockingham this weekend (July 28/29) when the Northamptonshire circuit hosts the UKs second largest bike race series.Thundersport GB is the most exciting and varied series in British motorcycle racing and offers riders and fans alike the chance to watch an awesome array of two-wheel machines roaring around the track.The Superbike specification Thundersport GP1 machines headline the event, with Peter Baker, Phil Crowe and Isle of Man TT privateer champion Ian Mackman being challenged by South African Superbike star Mike Dickinson.The world renowned Aprilia Superteen Challenge and Aprilia RRV450GP series are where the current crop of bike racing stars have learned their racecraft - from Casey Stoner, Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith in the Moto GP paddock through to Tommy Hill and Johnny Rea in British and World Superbikes.With 14 different championship titles up for grabs the packed schedule guarantees non-stop action. The Golden Era Superbikes class will bring back fond memories with its pre-2000 race bikes, and also featuring on the timetable are Thundersport 500, Superstock 1000, Pre-National 600, Formula 600, Honda CB500 Cup, Sound of Thunder and the Supertwin and Minitwins.Rockingham hosts Round 10 & 11 of the championship series, and Thundersports GB, will be will be racing on the 1.94 mile International Motorcycle circuit, the first time bikes have raced on an international circuit configuration at Rockingham since 2003.Tickets are 15 per adult and children aged 16 and under get in free, so a family of four can enjoy the days racing for just 30. With 16 races on Saturday and 18 races on Sunday, either day, offers great value for money racing.All tickets include free access to grandstand seats with a view of the entire circuit and free access to the race paddock and viewing from the pit garage, allowing a unique insight into the hard work behind the scenes from the teams.Rockingham prides itself on providing access to all motorsport fans.
