STEVEN GOLDSTEIN (PORSCHE 997GDL RACING) LEADS ROBERTO DELLI GUANTI, GIANFRANCO BOCELLARI (FERRARI 430KESSEL RACING) BY 5 POINTS GOING INTO CLOSING STINT OF 2012

With just two race meetings to go before the end of the season, the battle GTS Cup Trophy is more open then ever and again, it's Ferrari and Porsche to contend for title. The Grand Touring competition - promoted as a separate series - is featuring the finest side-by-side action.

Colombian Steven Goldstein is currently at the top of the charts and he has chances to repeat his 2011 title run. Last year, he shared the honours with Antonio De La Reina on a Kessel Racing-prepared Ferrari 430. This season, he moved from the Mik Corse Lamborghini Gallardo to a Porsche 997 prepared by GDL Racing fighting back to the lead in standings with a small 5-point advantage on his closest rivals, Roberto Delli Guanti and Gianfranco Bocellari. While the Colombian cruised to one win and three podium finishes, the Italian duo, fielded by longtime Ferrari team Kessel Racing, has three wins to their name. After having ended up on top at Monza, Hungaroring and Spa-Francorchamps, they are still in contention for the GTS Cup Trophy title.

Fielded aboard an Happy Racer-prepared Porsche, Vittorio Bagnasco has also left a strong impression so far. The Sicily-based driver scored a win at Mugello but his runs in the following races were hampered by mechanical problems. Nonetheless, the number 58 Porsche 997 fought back to a podium finish in Belgium.

One of the latest additions to the series, Giacomo Piccini, has also proved extremely competitive. Counting on a great open-wheel experience (including Formula 3, Formula 3000), he also won the Italian GT Championship twice in the GT3 class with a Lamborghini. This season, he's partnering championship leader Goldstein on his GDL Racing Porsche and after joining him at Hungaroring he scored two wins, one in Budapest and one at Spa Francorchamps.

Rome-based Scuderia Baldini 27 Network, a regular presence in the championship's stable. Led by Fabio Baldini, the Ferrari-powered squad fielded two F430 models. The pair of Alessandro Bernasconi and Lorenzo Cas scored wins for them at Imola and Mugello, and are joined by their team-mates Bianchi-Nataloni.

Also running on a Ferrari, Marco Galassi entered all the championship's events so far and currently stands in eight place. The top-10 is rounded out by Porsche's Roberto Silva (who won Race 1 at Imola) and Lamborghini's Felipe Merjech.
